From time to time, I’m asked if it’s possible to access any of the old articles we published on www.blurtitout.org. Thankfully, there is a way. It’s a little clunky so I’ll walk you through it.
We’re going to use the Wayback Machine which is an internet archive. It takes snapshots of websites at random intervals, meaning you can view the websites as they were at different times throughout their history.
If you click on this link: https://web.archive.org/web//https://www.blurtitout.org/ you’ll get a list of all of the (many) pages from www.blurtitout.org which have ever been archived.
To the right of the screen, above the search results, is a box that says ‘Filter results by URL or MIME Type’. In there, you can type in a keyword, such as ‘work’, ‘anxiety’, ‘stress’, or ‘friend’ for example. There’s a full list of the archived blog posts, here, which will help you establish the keywords you’re after.
For the purpose of illustration, I’m going to type in ‘anxiety’. Here are some of the search results:
It looks as though the original articles are those with ‘clean’ urls. As in, this one: ‘https://www.blurtitout.org/2017/05/25/difference-depression-anxiety’. The ones below it with ‘wp-preset’, I think are elements of the blog post, the design, rather than the article.
If I click on the clean URL, it takes me to this page:
Where the dates are highlighted in a blue circle as is 16th April, 2022, in the image. That’s where there was a ‘snapshot’ of that URL I’ve mentioned above, that’s been taken. Click on that date and you can view the article you’re after! If there are no dates showing, you can scroll through the years by clicking on the years at the top of the screen until you find a date with a snapshot.
It *is* a little bit clunky but it does mean that those articles you found useful are still accessible to you. It also means, that if you scroll down the page and click on any of the links to the right of the article in the ‘featured posts’, the Wayback Machine will take you right to those, too.
