My Work

A playful, cross-platform children’s project exploring connection, curiosity, and the ways we make sense of the world together.
A project idea that arrived like a lightning bolt in 2018 and just wouldn’t leave us alone!
Currently in its very early stages, this project combines my passion and curiosity in how creative technology can deepen learning and spark conversation. Developed in collaboration with my friend and epic screenwriter, Amy Trevaskus, it blends ideas for TV, interactive experiences, and practical resources for families and schools, all designed to help young children explore the world with more understanding, empathy, and joy.
I hope that this project will not only entertain but also encourage children (and their grown-ups) to spot everyday connections, from the simplest differences in words or objects to the bigger ideas that help us understand ourselves and each other. It’s about sparking curiosity, noticing what makes things unique (and what brings them together), and celebrating all the interesting ways we make sense of the world.

Boundaries and self-care go hand in hand; you can’t have one without the other. We understand the importance of self-care, but how do we protect the space within which we do it?
When we have healthy boundaries, we create a space between us and all else, where we feel safe, clear and confident in who we are and what we want and need. Our boundaries – the limits we place on what we will and won’t tolerate – define our routines, habits, choices, parenting, jobs, relationships; everything. And there’s nothing more important for our self-care.
In this practical guide, Jayne Hardy – author of The Self-Care Project – helps us explore our existing boundaries; the ones that work for us and the ones that work against us; and guides us on creating new boundaries so that our physical, mental, emotional and digital spaces are protected.
Packed with friendly advice, the latest research and worksheets to help you reflect on your own experiences, Making Space is for anyone who feels overwhelmed, disconnected or walked on by life, and wants to make a change in an ever-encroaching world.

It’s one thing to understand how important self-care is, but how many of us actually manage to make the time do it?
Self-care is a preventative action that focuses on our health and happiness, and yet so often it gets put aside when other things, and people, vie for our time and attention – it’s only when life has knocked us to our knees that we realise how vitally important it is.
Following on from the hugely popular The Self-Care Project, Jayne Hardy helps us to plan for obstacles, devise contingency plans, be mindful of the way our days play out, and prioritise the things that are truly important to us. With the flexibility of choosing to start the journal anytime; on any day, in any year, this is the essential companion for bringing more self-care into your life.

Everything you need to know about self-care; what it is, why it’s important, why it’s such a struggle and how to integrate it into day-to-day life.
There’s a damaging misconception in society that putting ourselves first is an act of selfishness. But self-care is not just a millennial buzzword. Without the restorative power of self-care, how will we ever escape the vicious circle where we’re sick and fed-up of feeling sick and fed-up? Self-care is a tool, accessible to us all, which helps us to take responsibility for our own happiness – our physical, emotional, psychological and social needs. Jayne Hardy argues that it is the best preventative measure available to us to combat overwhelmedness, stress and ill health, in our hectic, modern world.
The Self-Care Project is for those who have been feeling off-kilter for a while but have not been able to put the finger on the ‘why’. It is a no-nonsense, practical journey to help you do just that. It’ll walk you through the case for self-care (why it’s so darn important), why it isn’t selfish at all, help you explore what self-care means for you, what your obstacles might be and provide advice on how to chisel out daily space for self-care in a practical, achievable and realistic way.

A community-driven social enterprise dedicated to helping anyone affected by depression feel seen, supported, and understood.
Founded by me in 2011 and borne out of my own lived experience of depression, The Blurt Foundation C.I.C. was my response to the silence, shame, and stigma that too often surround mental health.
As CEO for over a decade, I helped grow Blurt from a tiny seed of an idea into a much-loved social enterprise dedicated to helping anyone affected by depression. Our mission was simple but powerful: to empathise, educate, and encourage. We did this through honest conversations, practical tools, creative campaigns, and free resources that reached millions.
Blurt became known for its trusted, widely shared resource library as well as our steadfast approach to raising awareness and tackling stigma. We worked closely with employers, educators, medical professionals, and companies like Ubisoft, Reed Employment, Spotify, and Little Moons to spark kinder, more supportive conversations about mental health.
To help sustain our work, we launched BuddyBox, the UK’s first monthly self-care subscription box, which brought a dose of comfort and joy every month. Alongside that, we ran creative campaigns like What You Don’t See, which went viral for its raw honesty about the hidden realities of living with depression.
In September 2022, I stepped down as CEO, leaving Blurt in new hands and closing a meaningful chapter in my work. I remain incredibly proud of what we built together.
